ROUND BOUND ~ THE POWER OF CIRCLES. Carl Jung perceived the Circle as a sacred symbol of the Self. Nature Herself grows, expands and evolves abundantly through the form of the Circle. Nature expresses her power and beauty through countless varieties of Life emerging through wombs, nests, designs of growth, planets and celestial orbs, from the tiniest particle to the largest form. Various forms of circles are utilized in meditation in order for us to transcend our ordinary consciousness to a One With All consciousness. As human beings we often gather in circles. Gathering in circles are great equalizers, unifying and nourishing, highly effective for connecting hearts and minds. People feel good in circles and feel better about who they are when they’ve been with others in a circle. Currently in the modern day they are effectively used for community building, healing, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and for co-creating social solutions in addition to the traditional ways for spiritual communion through rituals, meditations, prayer and teachings. Ancient and indigenous cultures used and continue to use circles for healing rituals, problem solving, teaching and learning, creative expression ~ round the fire, round the water, round a tree, round symbols of infinite variety. In the far East, and elsewhere no doubt, circles were used as tools for transformation, reaching human potential beyond imagination and for the elevation of consciousness to its sublime capacity through yantras and mandalas. To add to the spiritually sublime, Science has named the number for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter as Pi, which turns out to be ~ unknowable. Pi, meaning simply circumference in Greek. Do we seek to know the Unknowable through the Knowable within the circle of Life? It would seem so. So while we humans are trying to figure it out, we recommend seeking out and finding circles among what we love best on any given day. How do you feel when you are in a Circle of Friends? How do you feel when you make circles or enjoy them one way or another? How do you feel when you see and eat a really good pie? That’s what I would call a friendly day!
So there you are. Good and round bound we little human beings be. Something to celebrate! Yes Life! Enjoy!
